WANT TO ENTER A PLEA OF NOT GUILTY AND DISPUTE THE PARKING TICKET?
There are numerous reasons persons contest a parking ticket, for example the park mobile receipt
matches the date, time, and license plate on the ticket. When you plead Not Guilty be sure to
provide the court with copies of all documents and photographs you want the judge to see.
Here are your options:
1. You may enter a plea of Not Guilty online via www.njmcdirect.com. If you do not have your
ticket number you may search for it at Municipal Ticket Search (njcourts.gov)
After entering your ticket information at www.njmcdirect.com, the boxes shown below will
display. If you wish to plead Not Guilty and present your defense to the court, select the
“Plead Not Guilty or Guilty” box. You must type in your reasons and attach any documents or
pictures you want the judge to see. Using this process may allow you to resolve your matter
without the need to appear in court.

Be sure to provide the court with copies of all documents and photographs you want
the judge to see.
The municipal prosecutor will review the reasons for the not guilty plea.
Your case will then be decided by the judge on the record, and you will be notified of a
decision in approximately four weeks.
2. You may complete the Plea by Mail form on paper, attach any documents or pictures, and
submit the form and all supporting documents to the court. This form is available at the
court window or online Plea by Mail (njcourts.gov). Using this process may allow you to resolve
your matter without the need to appear in court.
3. The third option is to attend a virtual court session. Contact court staff to provide
your contact information and request a court date to speak to the judge. Court
