Admission requirements
Applicants must have at least one year of teaching experience
in a school setting. Prospective students without any teaching
experience may be considered; however, a rationale will need
to be provided as to why the application should be considered,
and the applicant may be interviewed by the faculty committee.
Applicants are required to submit scanned copies of official
or unofficial transcripts from all institutions attended. Upon
admission, final official or notarized copies of transcripts from
all institutions where degrees were earned and diplomas from
international institutions must be submitted. Applicants are also
required to submit official scores from the Graduate Record
Examination (GRE) taken within the past five years, with a target
composite score of 280+ on the verbal/quantitative portions.
• A letter of application detailing why you have chosen this
program at BGSU; your work experience since graduating
with your bachelor’s degree; your professional goals; your
academic strengths, and personal characteristics that will
lead to your success as a school administrator; the ways in
which you will be an asset to our program; and why you
should be admitted to this program.
• A copy of your current resume/curriculum vita including
evidence of successful teaching experience; leadership
ability or capacity; professional development activities;
professional memberships, committees, publications
and honors.
• Three reference forms/letters: one from an individual familiar
with your academic ability and two from administrators or
supervisors familiar with your professional performance.
One of the latter must be from a current supervisor.
• For those seeking Ohio administrative licensure in
conjunction with the M.Ed., a completed Application
for Administrative Licensure Form is also required.
