UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, LOS ANGELES (UCLA)
Transfer students are strongly encouraged to complete IGETC. Applications are accepted for fall quarter only. Upon
receipt of the application for admission, the individual department will send additional information on specific
requirements for the portfolio directly to applicants.
Art: one course each in drawing, sculpture, painting, photography (color printing), ceramics and new genres (performance
art, video art, installation, and non-studio work); four courses in art history to include the following art historical periods:
1850’s-1920, 1920’s-1960, and 1960’s- present.
Design: one course in drawing, color theory, two and three dimensional form, digital media/computer design, letterforms
and typography, design history, design culture, interactivity, and media art. *Exemptions to lower division requirements
will be determined by the department after admission to the program.
Art History: two courses in ancient, medieval, Renaissance and Baroque, or modern art, and two courses in African,
Asian, Oceanic, Native American, or pre-Columbian art.

OTIS COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN
Basic Art course recommendations:
Art 101, 110, 130, 160, 129, 217, 102A or 102B or 102C
At least 12 units of GE are recommended:
English composition, elective English course (i.e. Literature or communications), social science (i.e. History,
Anthropology, Psychology), Art History course
A portfolio is required and should demonstrate a high-level of technical and creative ability in your intended major.
Interested students are highly encouraged to meet with an Otis College Counselor.
A maximum of 63 transfer credits can be awarded.
CALIFORNIA INSTITUTE OF THE ARTS (CALARTS)
At CalArts, the year-level at which a student begins is based on the level of work presented in the portfolio/audition. This
is determined by a review from a faculty committee that will assess transferable credits.
The transfer of studio art courses into your program of study are determined by a faculty review of your incoming
portfolio or audition. Accepted applicants will be told of their transfer level at the time of admission.
If you have not obtained an AA or BA degree, you must also submit official High School Transcripts and evidence of
graduation or the equivalent.
The Critical Studies Transfer Guide states which academic course areas from ECC may be considered for transfer into the
Critical Studies area (General Education) of the BFA degree:
