Predictive Services Discussion:
Well above normal, record-setting temperatures will continue in the Southwest and southern California, with well
above normal temperatures returning to the northern Intermountain West into the High Plains. Minimum relative
humidity will be 5-25%, lowest in California and the Southwest, with higher values in the northern Rockies,
northern Great Basin, and Inland Northwest. Winds overall are expected to be light across the West, although
gusty westerly winds to 35 mph are possible in southern and western Wyoming and portions of east-central
Idaho. Gusty northerly winds of 15-20 mph are likely on much of the central and southern High Plains behind a
cold front, as well. Breezy and dry northwesterly winds of 15-30 mph gusting to 30-40 mph will develop amid
relative humidity of 20-30% across much of the Midwest creating widespread elevated conditions.
A cold front will move through the Appalachians and East Coast, but only scattered light precipitation due to
showers is forecast from West Virginia into the Northeast. Dry conditions will continue over much of the Southern
Area, with relative humidity likely to fall to 15-30% across Oklahoma and Texas. Showers and thunderstorms
will increase across the Florida Peninsula along a stalled cold front, with areas of heavy rain.
National Predictive Services Outlook
