MISSION STATEMENT
THE NEW BRUNSWICK HOSPICE PALLIATIVE CARE ASSOCIATION (NBPCA) provides
leadership to enhance quality end-of-life-care for individuals and families living with life
threatening illnesses in New Brunswick.
The NBHPCA works in collaboration with the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care
Association and other provincial and national stakeholders to advance hospice palliative
care in New Brunswick and Canada.

Goal 1
Dissemination of information on
hospice/palliative care principles and practices
into various settings to support both health
professionals and non traditional or informal
care providers.
NETWORKING - Improve contact with First
Nations, LGBTQ+ and multicultural associations.
ADVOCACY - Meet with government
departments Department of Social
Development, Department of Health,
Department of Education, Training and Labor,
Department of Finance to support Palliative and
Hospice Care and promote Advance Care
Planning.
PROMOTION - Promote community grief support
groups.
Goal 2
Advance the education of diverse audiences
across the sector; including health care
providers, individuals, families and community-
based care providers living with, or caring for,
those with life threatening illnesses.
INFORMATION SHARING - Provide information
about palliative resources to families and
caregivers.
STANDARDS - Encourage the development of
general standards for palliative care and hospice
care to include educational curriculum for health
care providers.
PUBLIC RELATIONS - Create community interest
in education on palliative care and public
education related to Advance Care Planning.
Goal 3
Further the relationship between NBHPCA and
other national non-governmental organizations
(NGOs)
PARTNERSHIPS
FINANCIAL/ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT - Work to
eliminate shroud kit.
COLLABORATION - Identify and collaborate with
community stakeholders - Involve community
leaders, clergy, politicians and health
professionals.
