Sunday Brunch at the Kimpton Seafire
Ahhh brunch, is there anything better? The only time it’s acceptable to drink copious amounts of alcohol in between fully loaded plates of food in the middle of the day. (At least in public.) And Cayman is THE place for brunch. From West Bay, down Seven Mile Beach, all the way out to the East End, you’ll find restaurants serving up all-you-can-eat-and-drink magic on Sundays. Ben and I have been to at least half a dozen of these brunches, but there’s still some big ones on our lists!
For my birthday, my parents gifted me one of these incredible experiences. So, a couple Sundays ago, Ben and I got gussied up and head out to the brand new Kimpton Seafire on Seven Mile. Opening only 8 months ago, the Kimpton is the newest hotel on the island and quite different from anything else in Cayman. Modern and sleek, you can see the ocean from what seems like any spot on the grounds; from when you first enter the lobby, down the covered walkway and into Ave, the main restaurant. With the slatted windows and bright design, I felt transported to upscale Baja Mexico or the Bahamas.
Things started off with a crisp cold glass of Cava, before our server brought us the drink specials described to us exactly as “one gin-based, one vodka-based, one tequila-based.” My favourite was the vodka, tasting like a lighter version of a Cayman lemonade. Ben’s was the tequila, a sweet coffee-mixed cocktail. Other highlights included some of the best sushi I’ve had on island and the amazing antipasto spread. Afterwards, we strolled the balcony off Ave and along the grounds, admiring the mix of beautiful architecture and lush landscaping.
