If you’ve ever spent more than 5 mins with Ben, you know he has a major passion for music. Jazz, funk, classic rock, rap, folk, you name it and Ben can create a robust playlist for you in about 20 mins. He knows which guitarist used to play back up for The Allman Brothers and started his own band with his wife, what band got discovered on the streets of Toronto by Bob Dylan, or who originally sang a certain famous tune. He hears 3 notes of a song as it’s ending on the radio when we start the car in the morning and goes, “Oh man, can’t believe we missed that, that was the live version of ____ (song) by ____ (artist) when he played at ___ (venue).” He also knows exactly what music to play based on how I’m feeling. <3
Music has always played a central role in our relationship. Ben and I met at WayHome Music Festival in July of 2015, so when I think of our beginning, I immediately hear Riptide by Vance Joy and Like I Can by Sam Smith, two artists we danced to together on the final day. We listened to Sylvan Esso on repeat the rest of that summer. I bought Ben tickets to Odesza for his birthday a few weeks into dating. He’s introduced me to countless bands, artists and genres I’d never heard of and now love. Music = Ben.
So, I’ve asked Ben to curate a weekly playlist to share his music curating gift and get you into that weekend mood. We’ll share it via Spotify on HiP every Friday, or you can follow the playlist here. In honour of celebrating two years together, the inaugural FRDY FLS (Friday Feels) is a collection of some our favourite songs and artists from our two WayHome’s together. Enjoy and happy Friday!

Ps. Should we add to the same playlist weekly, so it grows longer and longer, or create a new playlist every week based on that week’s theme? Let us know your thoughts!
